Hamilton Child Care Centre | Play to Learn
Our programme planning
The foundations of our programme is based on Te Whāriki, New Zealand’s Early Childhood Curriculum.
This curriculum is about the aspirations for children to grow up as competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society.
We believe children learn from doing things that they enjoy. Our programme planning evolves from children’s strengths and interests, which teachers notice, recognise and respond to by providing challenging and thought-provoking experiences
Learning Journals and online portfolios
Every child at Play to Learn Hamilton child care centre has a learning file that documents their learning, these precious books of memories are a collaboration of learning stories, project documentation, observations, photos and parent/whānau voice. These precious journals belong to you and your child we welcome your aspirations and dreams for your child, drawings, photos and stories that make visible links between home and the centre.
These special journals are also online, upon enrolment you will be given a unique login and password to our parent portal where you are able to view your child’s learning journal, newsletters, notices and up to date account information.
We pride ourselves on having qualified staff that love children. We have a minimum of 80% qualified staff each day.
We have an open door policy and encourage parents/caregivers to spend as much time as desired in the centre.
